We moved to the lovely seaside town of Redcar in 2022. Since then, we have been busy adjusting to a new life and location, and it's taken me a while to settle down to get to a situation where I can look for more community volunteering opportunities.
We have already started helping with food collections for the local community food banks in the area and have done collections at both Asda and Tesco. We found this easy to do as it's the thing we have the most experience with, and the friendly attitude of so many people locally to our efforts makes it much easier than in London.
Hopefully, this blog will explain where my adventures take me from here, with details of organisations looking for volunteers, how to find them, how to sign up, and some of my experiences during volunteering. I'm also hoping it may encourage others locally and across the country to look for opportunities to volunteer in their community.
